This bio-resin technology offers environmentally-friendly bioplastic products as an alternative to traditional petrochemical plastics. The technology forms the foundation for WaikatoLink's seed company, Novatein. The bioplastics market is currently in early stages of adoption, however there is an increasing demand for recyclable and biodegradable plastics. Novatein’s bio-resin technology encompasses a method and process that uses sustainable low value animal protein sources, such as bloodmeal to produce biodegradable plastic products. The process is a cost-effective method for utilising an existing low value commodity product to produce higher value products.
